Liniar Excels, Creates Bonds, and Earns an Emerald Award
At a sprawling 400,000-square-foot facility that serves as home to more than 600 employees in the heart of England, the Liniar operation continues to prove that when dedication meets innovation, the results are undeniable: 99.8% undeniable.
And Liniar’s Emerald Award for Excellence is a testament to the team’s unmatched performance and unshakable spirit.
Excellence in Every Detail
Liniar specializes in producing cutting-edge PVC profiles used in manufacturing stunning windows, doors, and roofs. But it’s not just about what they make. It’s how they do it. And how they do it is what customers appreciate.
With a consistent 99.8% on-time in-full (OTIF) delivery rate, the team makes and keeps promises others don’t even come close to matching. “Even at the peak of supply chain disruptions after COVID-19, we only dropped to around 94% – 95%,” said Peter Grundy, vice president of operations at the Denby facility. “While competitors were telling customers to expect 50% delivery, we were still getting the job done.”
Customers throughout the UK and Ireland know they can rely on Liniar. The logistics team is continuously keyed in to provide customers with precise time of delivery, enabling them to properly coordinate their production schedules.
“It’s a careful and intensive process, and we know not all profile supplies provide the same level of service and support that our teams do,” said Chris Alderson, president, Extruded Solutions. “The attention to detail and level of support we bring to the table is a real differentiator against our competition and exemplifies our commitment to excellence at every level of the customer experience.”
A Culture that Pulls Together
Peter describes the team dynamic as “big business with a small business, family feel.” It’s this close-knit culture that helps Liniar thrive even during challenging times. “There’s nothing like a good crisis at Liniar to bring us together,” he joked. “We link arms and treat every problem like it’s everyone’s responsibility.”
That shared ownership leads to impressive results, not just in output, but in retention and morale. Liniar’s staff retention rate of nearly 90% is the highest in its division. “People may not plan to go into PVC,” Peter noted. “But they end up staying here because they love the job, the people and love the environment.”
Transparency, Trust, and Training
One of the cornerstones of Liniar’s success is open communication. Peter personally addresses all 600 employees twice a year and keeps the lines of communication flowing through newsletters, text updates, and even canteen screen messages. “If you talk to anyone here, they’ll tell you exactly what our focus is and where we’re headed,” he said.
That direction includes a clear 5-year plan for purposeful growth and a firm commitment to training and development. “We’ve grown exponentially, but never lost our agility. We stay nimble, look out for each other and invest in our people,” Peter said.
Innovation With Purpose
Innovation is also front and center at Liniar. From technical partnerships with local universities to collaborations with industry experts—including a UK military professor now helping them improve adhesion processes—Liniar is always pushing the envelope.
“We empower everyone here to contribute,” Peter said. “During one campaign alone, we received over 700 ideas from our team about how to help Liniar and Quanex hit $2 billion in growth.”
A Win for Everyone
Winning the Emerald Award isn’t just a feather in Liniar’s cap, it’s a reflection of every employee’s hard work and pride. “I’m just the one speaking, but I’m representing hundreds of phenomenal people,” Peter said. “They’ve worked their socks off, and they deserve this recognition.”
With a blend of operational excellence, a passionate team and an unwavering focus on customers, Liniar is more than just a successful business, it’s a blueprint for how a people-first, purpose-driven company can lead the way forward.
