“In 2018, we were about a $50 million company, and last year, we were very proud to reach $100 million,” said Mike Duncan, General Manager – Viwinco. “Everybody, every day, is trying to figure out how to get a little bit better.”

As demand increased, Viwinco identified a critical constraint within its operations: glass production.

“The glass shop was always a bottleneck here at Viwinco as we grew,” explained Skyler Barnes, Director of R&D, Viwinco.

To support continued growth, the company made the strategic decision to invest in a new glass facility, expanding capacity while improving efficiency and control over insulated glass unit production.

Launching that capability required more than just equipment. It required the right partner.

“Being able to work side by side with Quanex to help launch our glass shop was really a benefit,” Barnes explained. “They are the experts in their product. They were able to provide support that not every other supplier would be willing to offer.”

Today, Viwinco utilizes Quanex Duralite^® spacers in its insulating glass units, supporting both product performance and long-term reliability.

“We can only provide a certain level of quality if we have the same type of quality products and components going into the window,” Duncan noted.

The result is improved thermal efficiency, reduced warranty concerns and greater confidence in the final product delivered to customers.

“As we look at developing new products and making our windows more energy efficient, Quanex is going to play a key role in that,” Barnes added.

“A lot of people think we’re just making white rectangles,” Duncan said. “But what we’re providing is something that is sustainable, beautiful, and thermally efficient for people in their homes.”
