A Dynamic Father and Son Duo in California
Hector M. Cortez is territory sales manager for Quanex North American Fenestration, covering California and Nevada. He joined the company in 2004 with little knowledge of the fenestration market but quickly got up to speed with support from his team. “We have some great people at Quanex who have helped me along the way,” Hector M. said. “I can make a call to anyone at this company, and they want to help. They want you to succeed, and it does feel like a family atmosphere.”
That family atmosphere became stronger when Hector R. Cortez, Hector M.’s son, joined the company in 2017. Hector R. held several jobs in the glass and window manufacturing space when a position opened on Quanex’s technical services team—an ideal fit for his skill set.
Today, Hector R. and Hector M. frequently work together to help solve their customers’ toughest challenges. “I’ll join a lot of my dad’s sales meetings. He gives the sales pitch, I walk through how we can support them
from a technical experience,” Hector R. said. “It’s a good experience and it’s great getting to work side-by-side while we’re on the road.”
“Many of our customers appreciate the family dynamic my son and I bring to the table,” said Hector M. “A lot of our customers are privately owned, smaller, mom-and-pop window manufacturers. I think when they see us, it makes Quanex feel like a true family company they can trust. Plus, between both of our individual skill sets, we can really offer them comprehensive help to overcome their challenges.”
