Giving Back to Our Communities
As part of our ongoing commitment to our local communities, Quanex sponsors and maintains The Quanex Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Through The Quanex Foundation, we not only support dozens of charitable organizations around the United States, but we also support the educational aspirations and charitable efforts of some of our own employees and their families. Since 2019, The Quanex Foundation has made more than $2,000,000 in charitable donations to various organizations across the country.
Below is a summary of just a few of the important initiatives that The Quanex Foundation supports.
Gary Sinise Foundation
Beginning in 2022, The Quanex Foundation became a major donor to the Gary Sinise Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to supporting defenders, veterans and first responders and their families. The Sinise Foundation supports these brave service members and first responders in many different ways, including mental health assistance, homebuilding efforts, group experiences for grieving families and educational outreach.
Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy
The Quanex Foundation has been a major supporter of the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy since 2014. The Bush Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to build a stronger, more equitable America through literacy. The Bush Foundation is the nation’s leading advocate for literacy and has invested more than $110 million in family literacy programs across the country.
COVID-19 Response
When COVID-19 hit, we recognized that many of our local communities were suffering and that we were in a position to help. To that end, The Quanex Foundation donated more than $500,000 to food banks and first responders serving the cities and towns we call home.
Scholarship Programs
In addition to supporting community and charitable organizations, The Quanex Foundation sponsors two different scholarship programs designed to provide educational opportunity for the children of our employees. Through the William A. McHattie and Bill & Iris Griffiths Scholarship programs, we award educational funds to four deserving students each year. Two of these grants are designed for use at four-year colleges, while the other two are focused on students who will attend two-year, vocational or trade schools.
Matching Gifts Program
In addition to directly supporting several great causes, we also maintain a program that will match 100% of charitable donations made by our employees, up to $5,000 per year, per employee. Through this effort, the Quanex Foundation has made more than $130,000 in donations since 2020, to 95 different organizations.
Employee Relief Fund
Working in conjunction with America’s Charities, The Quanex Foundation maintains an Employee Relief Fund that helps to support our workers and their families when they experience certain tragic life events. Through this program, our employees can apply for monetary support to help them through any number of life events, including natural disasters, personal tragedies such as house fire or flood, or losses related to military deployment or criminal victimhood.
