Polymer Compounds
Quanex Custom Mixing specializes in mixing custom rubber compounds, with intermeshing mixing lines that provide optimum dispersion for dense and sponge compounds.
We are committed to selecting the right materials based on your specific application and needs. For example, materials such as Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) and Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) have outstanding resistance to heat, ozone and weather and are suitable for many outdoor applications.
- Ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer (EPDM)
- Neoprene
- Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR)
- NBR (Nitrile butadiene rubber)/PVC (Polyvinyl chloride)
- Styrene-butadiene-rubber (SBR)
- Polybutadiene
- Natural rubber
- Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE)
- Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM)
- Ethylene acrylate rubber (AEM)
- Fluoroelastomers (FKM)

Compounds for extrusion
Quanex Custom Mixing offers a variety of both dense and sponge compounding options for the most sophisticated extrusion processes, including continuous sponge extrusion compounds.
Sponge compounds
Our history and experience in the development and mixing of sponge compounds has made sponge one of our core product lines. Success in sponge requires excellent control over incoming raw materials, precise weighment of formulation additives and incredible control throughout the entire mixing process. Quanex Custom Mixing offers a wide array of sponge compound solutions for both continuous extrusion and molding processes.
Compounds for molding
Quanex Custom Mixing offers options in both dense and cellular rubber for injection, compression and transfer
molding processes.
Compound Design and Development
Quanex Custom Mixing offers a wide range of compound design and development support. An experienced support team is ready to provide assistance in compound optimization and design for many technical applications. We have a fully-equipped lab mixer for creating small, prototype batches. Test compounds can also be evaluated on a pilot Liquid Cure Medium (LCM) extrusion line.
