Wrapping Up 2018 at WinDoor
by Guest Blogger
It’s getting cold up in the North, and another year in the fenestration industry is almost complete. That must mean it’s time for WinDoor, Canada’s premier fenestration show.
2018 was an interesting year for fenestration professionals. While earlier indicators projected a strong year, results may not have necessarily matched expectations for everyone. Whether it was rising materials costs, international trade tariffs, or something else, a number of challenges came to bear this year, both expected and unexpected. But as always, we showed resiliency and made the best of what came our way.
So, I’m excited to talk with customers and colleagues at WinDoor about not just what we’ve seen this past year, but how we’re preparing for a successful 2019. Some of the biggest names and innovators in the fenestration industry will be on hand at the show to help illuminate the path forward. Here are some things to look out for:
Staying Focused in 2019. While the building and construction sector has seen several years of growth, it’s broadly expected that we’ll be looking at least a bit of a slowdown in 2019. In late October, panelists at the Dodge Construction Outlook Conference in Washington, D.C., noted a confluence of factors that might contribute, including “fading results of the [U.S.] tax cuts’ fiscal stimulus, increasing interest rates, combined with the volatility of tariffs.”
With that, I think it’s important for fenestration professionals to be proactive at building new efficiencies into their operations—all the better to weather any potential market volatility in the months ahead. And WinDoor marks a good opportunity to do just that. Take stock of where your business and your operations stand at the end of busy season, and take the time to research and investigate new solutions at the show.
And remember, it’s not just about what you can add to your operation—it’s about what you can subtract, too. New strategic outsourcing solutions available to window and door manufacturers make it easier to focus on the core of your business. For example: Have you ever considered outsourcing screens, a costly, time-consuming and value-neutral part of your completed window units? Quanex can help—and you can learn more about it at WinDoor.
Efficiency at Every Turn. As always, the Quanex booth will be full of new solutions that fenestration professionals have trusted for decades, from high-performance vinyl window and door profiles to insulating glass spacers with proven field performance, all backed by unmatched customer support and technical expertise, helping you to solve your toughest challenges.
So be sure to stop by Booth #801, where you can learn more about:
- Warm-edge spacer products, backed by more than 35 years of experience, including Super Spacer® and Duralite® technology.
- Edgetherm® 3600, an active, single-part, hot-melt butyl sealant offering boosted performance, productivity and durability.
- Sparklike Gasglass technology for precise measurement of gas-filling in IG unit production, for results window and door manufacturers can depend on.
- Inagas Gas-Filling equipment, for total efficiency and control over the argon gas-filling process in your plant.
And much more. We can’t wait to see you at the show!
