SEO: Why It’s Important for Window and Door Professionals

by Erin Johnson

Digital is more than just a passing marketing fad; it’s here to stay. Whether you’re building a new website or updating your current site, search engine optimization (SEO) should not be overlooked.

What is SEO exactly? It can simply be defined as the strategies and tactics used to obtain a high ranking placement in search engine results and increase the number of visitors to your website. The foundation of any good SEO strategy is keywords. They’re important because the content and structure of your website should be built around your keyword strategy.

How to Conduct Keyword Research
When thinking about keywords, research terms and phrases that are focused on your products or services. From there, consider user intent. Ask yourself, “What information are people looking for when they use this phrase?” Understanding this can help you narrow and refine your keyword list based on the kind of traffic you’d like to attract to your website.

Once you have your keyword list set, start optimizing your website for these phrases. Insert keywords on relevant existing pages and for the keywords that don’t have a natural place on your website, consider developing new content to support them.

Content is King
As important as keywords are to SEO, there are other aspects to consider as well. The saying that “content is king” has never been more important. With more competition getting in on the SEO game, your content is what makes you stand out from the rest. Quality, relevant content that weaves in keywords naturally, is often the secret to your SEO success.

Continuous Refinement
SEO isn’t a “set it and forget it” activity. Once you’ve optimized your website, check the progress and performance of your keywords on a regular basis. Look at factors like organic search traffic to your site, how users are interacting with your site and how your site is ranking in search results, and then adjust your strategies accordingly.

The Final Word
We live in a digital age where almost anything can be found online and websites continue to compete for attention in search engines. SEO should be a priority for any company that wants to remain competitive and increase visibility and website traffic.
