Employee Spotlight: Donna Hinkle

In Focus is sitting down with Quanex employees who exhibit exemplary service to our customers. This month’s spotlight is on Donna Hinkle, senior technical services representative.
IF: Why don’t you begin by telling us a little about your time with Quanex?

Donna: I’ve been with the organization for 28 years, starting out with the Dura product line when we went to market as TruSeal. I started at the plant level and worked my way up to where I am now. As a member of the technical services team, I visit customers and perform audits, help them achieve certifications and improve quality, and all kinds of things. It’s varied, rewarding work.

IF: What motivates you at work?

Donna: I’m definitely a people person. In this job, I get to work directly with people, face-to-face, every day, helping them solve problems and share my knowledge. It’s really rewarding to see it all come to life and help a customer achieve their goals.
Also, there’s always something new to learn in this industry. I’m constantly challenged to soak up more information and knowledge and apply those skills to tough challenges as they come up.

IF: What does service mean to you?

Donna: To me, it means remembering that our customers are all unique, and it’s my job to learn every facet of the different aspects of how they work. Our Technical Services team never comes into a customer with a blanket recommendation about how they should be operating. We work to understand their unique needs, then we recommend a solution. Service is being a good listener—it’s one of the most important parts of our job.

IF: What do you enjoy about working for Quanex?

Donna: The team environment. Really, we’re like a family. I’ve been with the organization for long enough, and so have many of my colleagues, that we’ve all seen and helped each other learn and grow over the years. It’s a great environment and a great organization to work for every day.

IF: What inspires you outside of work?

Donna: My family. I have two sons, 12 and 16, and we spend a lot of time enjoying the outdoors, hiking and kayaking. We love to travel. We love football and baseball. Any kind of adventure, we’re up for it.

IF: What are you looking forward to in the coming year at Quanex?

Donna: Any and all new challenges that come our way. I’m looking forward to helping our customers succeed, no matter what the opportunity.
