Rick Arredondo Joins Quanex Corporation as Vice President - Corporate Controller

HOUSTON, Jan. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Quanex Corporation (NYSE: NX) announced today that Ricardo (Rick) Arredondo has joined the Company as Vice President - Corporate Controller. He will report directly to Terry M. Murphy, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Quanex.

In his new position, Arredondo is responsible for leading the corporate accounting team, including the Company's consolidated financial reporting and compliance, budgeting and tax planning.

Arredondo brings to Quanex significant experience in corporate accounting, auditing, taxes, and financial analysis. Before joining Quanex, he held the position of Vice President - Corporate Controller of Universal Compression, Inc. in Houston, Texas. Previously he held the position of Vice President - Controller for Southdown, Inc. (acquired by Cemex USA in 2001), in Houston. He has also held positions of increasing responsibility with Union Texas Petroleum Corporation, ENSTAR Petroleum Company, Tenneco Oil Company, and KPMG.

Arredondo is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in Accounting. He has also earned a MBA - Finance from the University of Houston. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas, a Certified Internal Auditor, and a member of the American Institute of CPA's.
