COVID-19 Update

Dear Customers and Friends,
As our industry begins to rebound and we all adjust to new ways of living and working, Quanex remains dedicated to the health and safety of our employees, customers, communities and other stakeholders. It is fundamental to our CREED that we “Do the right thing,” and we believe in that aspiration now more than ever.

We continue to implement and enforce strict protocols within our facilities, and we are working to keep Infection Control, Safety and Balance top of mind across our businesses.

Infection Control
To limit the spread of coronavirus in our facilities and adhere to local and state ordinances, we have implemented several critical protocols. All team members at every facility must self-check for COVID-19 symptoms on a daily basis, and any employees who have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case must immediately inform the company so they can self-isolate to prevent any possible spread at work.

At every location, we have implemented a number of engineering controls along with strict social distancing, hand hygiene and equipment cleaning protocols to limit exposure, and we also require employees to wear facial coverings at all times in several facilities.

As our business rebounds and we increase working hours to accommodate an influx of orders, we recognize the importance of taking proactive steps to combat the fatigue and distraction that increase the risk of safety incidents. We actively and continually discuss safety-related issues, encourage team members to take stretch breaks before and during shifts, and reinforce safety rules. Quanex has been and remains a safety-driven organization, and we often remind our employees of their vital responsibility to themselves, their colleagues and their families to behave in a way that ensures everyone goes home each day in the same condition in which they arrived.

During this unprecedented time, we are also doing all we can to look out for our employees’ mental health and to encourage a healthy work-life balance wherever possible. To that end, every Quanex location has its own protocols in place, which can include minimizing overtime, avoiding weekend shifts or engaging additional resources where needed to address inflated demand. Our leaders across the business have discussed these efforts with customers to emphasize our view that the mental health and physical safety of our employees are of utmost importance and that all production and delivery schedules are subject to those foundational values.
