Owens has always been an environmentally friendly choice. Plankfloor’s design maximizes the recovery of wood fiber by combining a composite base with a solid wood wear layer. This platform generates four pieces of flooring from same piece of lumber that would otherwise generate one piece of ¾" solid flooring.

Plankfloor is compliant with the strictest standards for formaldehyde emissions. All of our products are CARB Phase II certified to protect the air quality of your home.

All wood used to create Owens Plankfloor is Lacy Act Compliant. The Lacy Act helps protect against deforestation by making it unlawful to purchase wood harvested illegally.

No “Greenwashing” allowed! In 1994, long before it was fashionable, Colonial Craft became FSC (Forest Stewardship Council ) certified. Owens Flooring by Colonial Craft has continued that tradition. FSC standards insure that trees are harvested in a manner that protects lands, animals, and communities. Upgrade to FSC certified products to qualify for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification points.

LEED Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in 2000, the LEED rating system is redefining the way we think about the places where we live, work, and learn.  LEED provides a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green initiatives.  Engineered hardwood flooring can contribute to LEED points earned on a project including:
