Solar Module Sealants

Quanex is the world's leading supplier of thin film edge sealants. Developed and marketed by Truseal Technologies, our products are backed by over 10 years of thin film edge sealing experience along with over 40 years of experience of sealing products in the insulating glass industry. No other thin film edge sealant has grown faster globally or is more widely used than Truseal's Solargain edge sealant products.

The Solargain™ Platform is comprised of both Solargain Edge Tape (SET) and Pumpable Solargain Edge Tape (PSET). Solargain Platform is a 100% solids, durable, non-conductive butyl edge sealant designed specifically for sealing thin-film photovoltaic modules. These products are desiccated to trap moisture before it reaches the active cell area. The butyl sealant is inherently UV stable and exhibits excellent adhesion to glass.

Solargain products are compatible with commonly used encapsulants such as EVA, PVB and TPO's. They deliver a high performance thin-film PV module edge seal designed to protect CdTe, CIGS, a-Si and other thin-film technologies against moisture ingress.
Solargain products are available in two formats:

  • Solargain Edge Tape (SET)

    Pre-extruded SET is packaged on a removable liner on rolls. The rolls are delivered in a sealed foil bag and a robust carton suitable for global shipping. SET is custom made to meet requirements of specific thin-film PV module designs and applications. SET is applied using an automated application process. Contact Truseal for further details

  • Pumpable Solargain Edge Tape (PSET)

    PSET is the liquid-applied version of SET. PSET offers the same performance features of SET product while being optimized for use with commonly available dispensing systems. PSET is packaged in 200 liter drums for convenient shipping, storage and unloading. A wide variety of automated application equipment is available. Contact Truseal for further details.

Solargain products are available in two formulations:

  • Solargain LP01

    Designed specifically for use with EVA encapsulants, the LP01 formulation provides a proven edge seal technology along with processing characteristics which are compatible with a wide variety of lamination processes. LP01 is available in SET form only

  • Solargain LP02

    Available in both SET and PSET form, LP02 is compatible with commonly available encapsulants such as EVA, PVB and olefins. The LP02 formulation is available in both SET and PSET.
